Cygnet is a leading provider of physiological information to the Health Care Industry. The company was started with angel venture capital.

The company quickly gained an impressive installed base in hospitals throughout the US due to its product superiority. However, a delay in migrating to the Windows operating system left the company strategically behind competition. The angel investor was not able to finance a rapid resolution to this problem and decided to seek a buyer.

The controlling angel shareholder engaged Brereton, Hanley to "shop" the company to other VC's and public firms. We managed the divestiture of Cygnet to Medical Technology Systems, Inc. (MSYS-OTC).

The owners received nominal present-value consideration for their stock, but received a handsome six-year royalty stream based on product revenue.
